Take the reader survey\u00a0below and share your opinion in the comments.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"><br \/>\nThe API poll found 68\u00a0percent of registered voters surveyed support offshore drilling. That included about\u00a080 percent of Republican voters, 72\u00a0percent of Independent voters and 61 percent of Democrat voters.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"><br \/>\nAbout one quarter of respondents said they think the U.S. government does enough to encourage oil and gas development on federal lands and waters.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"><br \/>\nThe telephone poll, conducted by Harris Poll between\u00a0July 10 and 13, surveyed 1,012 registered voters nationwide. It has a margin of error of plus or minus\u00a03 percentage points. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana Bold;\">Should the federal government open more offshore areas to oil and gas drilling?<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Yes.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">No.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\"><\/p>\n<p><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">I&#8217;m not sure.
