Produced by the Science-to-Action<br \/>\npartnership, which includes more than 75 organizations led by Conservation<br \/>\nInternational\u2019s Marine Management Area Science Program, the publications are<br \/>\nbased on 5 years of natural and social science research in over 70 marine<br \/>\nmanaged areas in 23 tropical countries.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on the results of more than 50 studies, the Science-to-Action<br \/>\npartnership offers recommendations for successful implementation of marine<br \/>\nmanaged areas (MMAs) to maximize the benefits to people and nature. The<br \/>\nfindings and recommendations are presented in 3 reader-friendly, richly<br \/>\nillustrated booklets:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 People and Oceans explores the role of people in marine managed areas,<br \/>\nincluding the human well-being benefits and challenges of MMAs, and how<br \/>\nsocioeconomic conditions affect success.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.science2action.org\/peopleandoceans\">http:\/\/www.science2action.org\/peopleandoceans<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Living with the Sea examines the role of MMAs in restoring and sustaining<br \/>\nhealthy oceans, particularly the importance of local management efforts.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.science2action.org\/livingwiththesea\">http:\/\/www.science2action.org\/livingwiththesea<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Marine Managed Areas: What, Why, and Where defines MMAs and discusses the<br \/>\nchallenges of implementation.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.science2action.org\/mmas-whatwhyandwhere\">http:\/\/www.science2action.org\/mmas-whatwhyandwhere<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I encourage you to use these booklets to advance discussions with government<br \/>\nagencies, non-government organizations, user groups, and other stakeholders<br \/>\nto influence better decisions for coastal and ocean resources and about how<br \/>\nand why to implement integrated management systems for the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>These and other publications may be downloaded in pdf format at our new<br \/>\nwebsite <a href=\"http:\/\/www.science2action.org\/\">http:\/\/www.science2action.org<\/a>.
